Need to check your FINAL CCC class grades?
Log-in to the CCC web-advisor program. Click here. Once you click on the link, it will open a new window. Click on "log in" on the top right. Your username should be your username for CCC gmail (firstname.lastname) and your password should be your 6-digit birthday. If you can not log in, there is a link to reset your password at the bottom right page of the webadvisor log in screen. You will need your SSN or college ID to reset your password. See me for your college ID number. If resetting your password does not work, please contact Michelle Davis at CCC-Havelock. Her number is 444-0707. *Please note, college professors are NOT required to keep an updated grade book online through web-advisor. This program is best utilized for getting FINAL grades.
Calculate my GPA?
GPA stands for GRADE POINT AVERAGE. College admission offices, scholarships, community service programs, jobs, and many other activities may want to know your GPA. Your GPA is the average of all your grades.
A = 4 or 5 if honors/college
B = 3 or 4 if honors/college
C = 2 or 3 if honors/college
D = 1 or 2 if honors/college
F = 0
Here's a very simple example - you are currently enrolled in Honors Algebra 2, Honors English 2, Honors American History 2, and Honors Biology. That totals 4 HONORS classes. Let's say you have A's in 2 of them and B's in the other 2 classes. Since they are all honors classes, they all get an extra point. So, the 2 A classes are weighted as 5 points and the 2 B classes are weighted as 4 points. 5 + 5 + 4 + 4 = 18. To find the average, divide the total by the number of classes (4). 18/4 = 4.5 is your WEIGHTED GPA. Sometimes you may be asked for your UNWEIGHTED GPA. To figure out the unweighted GPA, forget about whether classes are honors/college or not. Using the same example, you have 2 A's and 2 B's. For an unweighted GPA, that means the A's are worth 4 points and the B's are worth 3 points. 4 + 4 + 3 + 3 = 14. To find the average, divide the total by the number of classes (4). 14/4 = 3.5 is your UNWEIGHTED GPA.
After searching the internet, here's a pretty good GPA calculator that you can use to figure out your own GPA. Click herePlease note that the GPA calculator is NOT the OFFICIAL GPA. It is to be used to give you a general idea.
Algebra 1, PED 120/PED 110, Physical Science, Engineering 1, 2, Foreign Languages 1 and 2, and CTE courses are NOT HONORS.
Schedule a parent/teacher conference?
If you only need to meet with one ECE teacher, email that teacher directly to set up a time that will work for both parties. If you need to meet with more than one ECE teacher, please email me at [email protected] and I will coordinate a time that will work for all ECE parties. If students/parents are concerned about a college class, the student needs to make contact with the college teacher via email or visit with them during their office hours. I can help students make this contact if they feel unsure/uncomfortable. Parents can support their student in this endeavor, but students must initiate contact and actively participate in discussions/conferences.
Drop a COLLEGE class?
1. If you are considering dropping a college class, the first step is to meet with your college instructor to figure out how to improve your performance in the class (Academic Skills Center, meeting with the instructor one-on-one, etc)
2. Once you have met with the instructor, you schedule a time to meet with me. After our meeting, if you are still wanting to drop, you will take a drop form home and get a parent signature. The form will be signed by you, your parent, me, and the college counselor.
**Please note, dropping a college class can have negative consequences such as: you do not graduate on time, you do not graduate with the credits you wanted, colleges may look at many withdrawals as a sign of lack of commitment, and continued withdrawals (one or more for 2 semesters) will indicate that you are not ready for college courses and thus you will not be scheduled in them for the following semester.
Register for COLLEGE classes?
College registration is different depending on what grade a student is in.
Most 9th grade students will take either PED 110 or ACA 122 their 9th grade year. Mrs. Weaver and Mrs. Derck (the college counselor) will register 9th grade students.
For Spring 2014 CCC registration,
10th and 11th grade students will meet with Mrs. Weaver during the months of October and November to plan out courses. The responsibility of meeting with Mrs. Weaver rests with the student. Parents are invited to attend meetings, if desired. On November 12th from 8:45-1:30, sophomores and juniors will report to a CCC computer lab (location TBD) during their seminar to register for college classes online.
12th grade students must schedule an appointment with Mrs. Weaver online during the months of September, October, or November to plan out coursework. Parents are encouraged to also attend the meeting. If the senior has more than 30 college hours they can register online from any computer through CCC webadvisor starting on November 4th. If the senior has 12 or more college hours they can start registering November 6th. If they run into any issues with registration within webadvisor, they must contact Mrs. Derck at [email protected] or (252) 444-6012.
I have an IEP or 504 plan and need accommodations for my college classes. What do I do?
HS plans do not equal college plans. ECE will not share your information with CCC. The responsibility of accessing accommodations rests with the student.
If you believe that disability-related issues have affected or may affect your academic progress, you may voluntarily supply documentation about the disability and its specific impact on your educational experiences. If you supply such documentation to CCC, CCC will keep it confidential and use it only as part of their efforts to increase access by individuals with disabilities in accordance with ADA mandates. If you choose not to supply this information, you will not be eligible for accommodations.
